Graeme Downie

Graeme lives in the constituency on the West Fife coast with his wife and two daughters. Before being elected as the MP for Dunfermline and Dollar, he served as a councillor for West Fife & Coastal Villages and ran his own business.

Graeme’s dad was an electrician all his working life – for the nationalised Electricity Board, the railways, the armed forces, and at Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. His mum worked in clerical and administrative roles across construction, insurance, and higher education. His sister is a Clinical Psychologist in our NHS.

He was one of the first in my family to go to university. He got there through hard work and ambition, but he also got there because of great teachers and the opportunities provided by a good state school. Without public services like those, his journey would have been far more difficult, if not impossible.

The people of Dunfermline and Dollar voted for change – for a better future where everyone has the chance to achieve their ambitions. He will never be ashamed of being ambitious for his community and for Scotland.

As your MP, Graeme is determined to help create a society where the opportunities his parents worked so hard to give me – and which successive Labour governments helped to deliver – are available to everyone.
